Random observation about Cori Falls's work

 This is something that's been on my mind about Cori Falls's story "Family Matters" for quite some time. Every so often I'll read through that story a bit just because it's cheesy and over-the-top. One thing that struck me about it is that Cori spends so much time in that fic talking about how wonderful Jessie and James's baby would be, and what all they'd do once they had a baby, and so on, that it seems as though she really wanted Jessie and James to have a baby there, but got overruled by canon.

If nothing else, she's (or was) as preoccupied with the idea of Jessie and James having a baby as I am with killing random characters' mothers in childbirth (that is, pretty damn preoccupied).

She put a LOT of emphasis on Jessie and James breeding, yeah. She's hardly the only one, some fans have their "I want them to fuck and make lots of babies" pair in a fandom but Cori was just really weird about it. Like, it wasn't just "okay I just want my OTP to fuck and have babies" it was "they WILL have babies and those babies WILL be perfect beings!".

That's true. I feel like the majority of fans have been down the "I want my OTP to fuck and make lots of babies" road at some point, whether they've preserved any of those fantasies in writing or not. The thing is, a story like "Family Matters" (or even Cori's timeline of Jessie and James and their children having kids) goes beyond that--it has way more...everything: time, energy, emotion, purple prose, whatever, invested in it than a simple "I want my OTP to fuck and make lots of babies" story has any business having.

I mean, I sporked a "Code Geass" fanfic of this nature awhile back on the Das-Sporking LiveJournal community. And it was lazily written--much moreso than "Family Matters." But what this meant was that it worked more like a typical OTP fantasy, whereas "Family Matters" is in a league of its own.
