On a Billy Joel song
May. 12th, 2015 02:36 pm I just realized the other day, that Billy Joel's "The Entertainer" kind of comes across as an ancient version of the "What others think I do/What I really do" meme. It takes a job that everyone thinks of as really glamorous, and points out that it's a job like any other and that musicians, whatever fame and success they may enjoy, still have to eat and pay bills, and their success is entirely contingent upon their ability to please their fans and the music industry in general.
