That's true. I feel like the majority of fans have been down the "I want my OTP to fuck and make lots of babies" road at some point, whether they've preserved any of those fantasies in writing or not. The thing is, a story like "Family Matters" (or even Cori's timeline of Jessie and James and their children having kids) goes beyond that--it has way more...everything: time, energy, emotion, purple prose, whatever, invested in it than a simple "I want my OTP to fuck and make lots of babies" story has any business having.
I mean, I sporked a "Code Geass" fanfic of this nature awhile back on the Das-Sporking LiveJournal community. And it was lazily written--much moreso than "Family Matters." But what this meant was that it worked more like a typical OTP fantasy, whereas "Family Matters" is in a league of its own.
