What's even worse is when fandom blogs start jumping on the bandwagon, even if they have nothing to do with social issues. There's a Pokemon-based blog I follow that's been posting all these entries about the various racist and homophobic/transphobic hate crimes that have happened recently, and a lot of the time they're not even constructive, or calls to do anything remotely useful--they're just "Hey guys, you remember when this awful thing happened? Isn't it awful? It's awful, right?!" Never mind that I'm sure at least some of the people who follow fandom blogs (myself included) do so because they want to have fun without being reminded of how awful the world is....
