A love letter to Masao Murasako
Because I just can't let go of "Shiki" just yet....
Lemme just say to begin with, that this has been a constant thorn in my side for the past couple weeks. I've spent absolutely agonizing amounts of time trying to intellectualize, rationalize, and justify my thoughts and feelings on you. But there's nothing more I can do--I'm sick and tired of trying to puzzle this out. So just to clear the air, I just can't deny any longer--you're my very favorite character in all of "Shiki" and I love you. I love you more than Toru, more than Ozaki, more than Ritsuko, even more than Tatsumi. I love everything about you: the way you went from being the creepiest human character in "Shiki" to being the most useless vampire; the way you whined and screamed and cried about how much your life sucked and how everyone was so mean to you, all while antagonizing everything that moves; the way you so totally got a major crush on Megumi only to have that horribly shot down just hours before your untimely death... all the way down to your stupid, ugly jerk face.
Sure, I get that you're not real popular with the crowd (because let's face it, you were never meant to be exactly appealing); but I don't care. I don't care that the other characters in the story hate your guts; I don't care that all the blog posts I've found of you go off on one about how nasty and slimy and ugly and useless you are; I don't care if Todd Haberkorn himself detests you and thinks you're the worst role he's ever played--nothing any of them can say or do will ever prevent me from absolutely adoring you to hell and back.So, in conclusion, I'll just leave you by reiterating: I love you, you're awesome, you're amazing and underappreciated and everything a "Shiki" character should be and... and... never change. Just... keep doing what you do. I just hope I can play with you some more next Halloween.
